Occupational Safety and Health Policy

AFI Brake Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and stakeholders. We recognize that effective management of occupational safety and health (OSH) is an essential part of our operational success, particularly in the high-risk environment of brake pad and brake shoe manufacturing.

1. Scope and Applicability

This policy applies to all personnel working under the control of AFI Brake Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., including full-time and part-time employees, contract workers, interns, subcontractors, suppliers, and visitors at all company premises—manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and administrative offices.

2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance

We are committed to complying fully with all applicable occupational safety and health legislation in Malaysia, including but not limited to:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514)
  • Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (Act 139)
  • Relevant regulations and guidelines issued by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH / JKKP)
  • Standards and practices promoted by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
  • MS ISO 45001:2018Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (where applicable)

3. Management Commitment

The top management of AFI Brake Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. accepts full responsibility for ensuring the implementation of this policy. We actively lead by example and allocate appropriate resources to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of OSH practices.

4. Risk Identification and Control

We are committed to:

  • Continuously identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace hazards associated with brake pad and brake shoe production, including dust exposure, chemical handling, high-temperature processes, heavy machinery, and ergonomic strain.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits to prevent incidents and occupational illnesses.
  • Implementing preventive and corrective actions based on risk analysis findings.

5. Employee Participation and Training

We believe that every employee plays a critical role in maintaining a safe workplace. To that end:

  • All employees shall be provided with regular safety and health training relevant to their job scope.
  • Training includes, but is not limited to: proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), machinery handling, fire safety, emergency response, chemical handling, ergonomic practices, and first-aid awareness.
  • Employees are encouraged and empowered to report unsafe conditions and participate in safety committees and initiatives.

6. Emergency Preparedness and Response

We maintain and regularly update comprehensive emergency response procedures, including:

  • Fire evacuation drills and equipment checks
  • Spill containment protocols for hazardous substances
  • Readiness of trained first-aiders on site
  • Clear emergency communication and signage throughout the workplace

7. Contractor and Supplier Management

We ensure that all contractors, vendors, and suppliers engaged in our operations comply with our OSH standards. Contractors must undergo safety briefings and follow all site-specific safety requirements when operating within company premises.

8. Communication and Awareness

The OSH Policy will be:

  • Clearly communicated to all employees, contractors, and relevant stakeholders
  • Displayed prominently at all AFI Brake Manufacturing facilities
  • Included as part of onboarding for all new hires
  • Reviewed periodically to ensure its relevance and effectiveness

9. Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuously improving our OSH performance by:

  • Setting measurable OSH objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitoring compliance through inspections, audits, and incident investigations
  • Analyzing trends to implement preventive measures
  • Bench-marking against industry best practices and MS ISO 45001 standards

10. Environmental Health Consideration

AFI Brake Manufacturing also integrates environmental health considerations into our OSH efforts by:

  • Minimizing harmful emissions and dust during brake manufacturing
  • Ensuring proper storage and disposal of industrial waste
  • Avoiding the use of hazardous materials unless properly controlled

This policy will be reviewed annually or as required to reflect changes in legislation, operational needs, or after any significant incident.
